~WHO STOLE YOUR CAR?~

For the past week, the phrase “white people stole my car” has been Googled like crazy.


Perplexingly, though, there were few results yielded by this popular search and most links lead to some fairly nasty malware. Finally, the above screenshot surfaced, which seems to at least solve the mystery of why the phrase was so popular on Google. As the screenshot above implies, Googling the term “white people stole my car” results in the search engine asking if black people stole my car. Well that’s… really not cool, Google!


But is it real or fake? As of now, Google does not correct the phrase in a racially insensitive way. And while it does appear that at one time Google did, it’s entirely possible and plausible that someone misspelled “black people stole my car,” got the correction shown, and altered the search text as a prank.


I tried to re-fake a screenshot, but it seems that Google is not correcting any searches to say “black people stole my car” anymore. Bummer.


Another thing is that we strongly do not advise you to click on any link the Google search brings forth because they are mostly attached with virus, malware, spy-ware, etc.

FirstBank to Thrill Nigerians with UMOJA Dance Troupe

Styled to look like a hot rod of the past and to sip fuel like a car from the future, Louisiana Tech University's Roadster took home one of two grand prizes in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas.

The team from Ruston, Louisiana, achieved 647 miles per gallon (275 kilometers per liter) in the student competition for  design of high-efficiency vehicles. Louisiana Tech won the $5,000 top award for "urban concept” vehicles—cars that meet the safety requirements to be driven on city streets—plus an additional $1,000 award for design in the April 16-17 contest in Houston.

Introducing: Ikenna Azuike From “What’s Up Africa

32-year old Ikenna Azuike is taking African socio-political commentary to another level- one ‘vlog’ episode at a time.

He created the vlog (a video “blog,” for those unfamiliar with the term), “What’s Up Africa” to stimulate a more positive discourse on African current affairs and pop culture.

With the use of a quick editing style, humor and a larger-than life on-air personality, Azuike brings a quirky freshness to a growing cyber network of young, hip, happening and inspiring Nigerians.

Azuike was born in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria in 1979 and lived in Nigeria with his father (who’s from Anambra State) and his British mother (who is of German and Ukrainian heritage.)

He moved to the United Kingdom at the age of seven, but he didn’t completely leave Africa behind. He continues to follow what’s happening on the continent, but notes that much of the information out there is negative.

“There’s a lack of content out there on creative Africa and the awesome talent that exists on the continent,” Azuike told Sahara TV’s, Chika Oduah.

So that’s what motivated him to take the initiative and create the vlog.

“I wasn’t reading about creative Africans on mainstream media outlets over here in the UK and in the Netherlands so I wanted a new outlet for all that.

His topics range from politics, to music; he’s covered religious fanaticism, bare-breasted Occupy Wall Street protesters and everything in between. Most of the weekly videos average around 900 online viewers.

“What’s Up Africa” was even featured on the often-cited blog of tech-advocate and
Emeka Okafor, Timbuktu Chronicles.
Azuike’s secret? Hard work….(and his good lucks and education credentials don’t hurt either).

Each episode comes together in just two days of production: the first day is devoted to research and the other is for editing, scripting and finalizing.

However, he did face one challenge when deciding on whether to create the vlog.

It concerned the sentiment of Nigerians on the continent toward those abroad. Many Nigerians in Nigeria are quick to dismiss Nigerians in the diaspora as disconnected from the plight occurring back home.

“That was one of my fears,” Azuike said. “That I’m not connected.”

But in today’s Information Age, there are many ways to tap into what is happening around the world without a direct presence.

And in this era of start-up technologies and youth-faced world-changers, perhaps this is the best chance to light up Africa….one vlog, one book, one song, on policy, on ‘tweet’, one person at a time.

Azuike: “I have this belief that literally anything is possible as long as you put in hard work, creativity and intelligence.”

Talented Teen, Cut From X-Factor Debut, Hit With Deportation Order

Oct. 19 (GIN) – Zimbabwe teen and songbird Gamu Nhengu, who gave a standout performance for the British “ X Factor” reality show, is bearing up under trying times. After getting cut by one vote by the Factor’s panel of four white judges, she is now threatened with deportation by order of the UK Border Agency.

After her recent showstopping performance on X Factor, judge Cheryl Cole gushed: “I thought you were adorable, I got you. I love your style of song and how you perform.

But I'm sorry Gamu," the judge told the 18-year Zimbabwean student who lives in Scotland before delivering the bad news.


“I don't think I can take you further forward. You just need to keep going and get some more experience.”
The surprising turn of events prompted an outpouring of outrage from British TV viewers on Twitter and Facebook. An online petition quickly filled with a thousand signatures and fans say they will write to MPs and immigration officials to block the deportation.

The pop singing Gamuchirai Nhengu had been living in the UK while her mother, Nokuthula Ngazana, completed her college studies. But Ngazana's visa expired and the application to remain was rejected as they did not meet refugee status criteria. The family now must leave the UK voluntarily or be forced to leave.
